Jakarta, Ideatax -- The deadline for matching the taxpayer identification number or Nomor Pokok Wajib Pajak (NPWP) with the population identification number or Nomor Induk Kependudukan (NIK) will end on June 30, 2024. All individual taxpayers are asked to immediately match the NIK with the NPWP for ease of tax administration. If not, there is concern that taxpayers will experience difficulties in reporting and paying taxes in the following years.

In the Minister of Finance Regulation Number 112 of 2022 concerning Taxpayer Identification Numbers for Individuals, Corporate Taxpayers, and Government Agency Taxpayers, among others, it is stipulated that one of the objectives of using NIK as a means of tax administration is to support Indonesia's one data policy. Thus, it is expected to realize a single identity number that is standardized and integrated into tax administration services.

Furthermore, Article 2 of PMK 112 of 2022 also stipulates that the fifteen-digit NPWP (old TIN) can only be used on a limited basis until December 31, 2023, which means that starting January 1, 2024, all tax administration services will use the Population Identification Number (NIK) as a means of tax administration. So, what are the steps that must be taken by the taxpayer to match the NIK with the NPWP?

In order to match the NPWP with the NIK, there are four easy taxpayers can take:

  • Preparing the NPWP, KTP, and family cards before opening the DJP online page.
  • Visiting the DJP online page by inputting the old NPWP with the previously saved password. If the taxpayers forget the DJP online password, they can reset the password by inputting the NPWP, email address, EFIN, and a new password.
  • After the taxpayer's online DJP account is launched, the taxpayer can click the profile tab and check the correctness of the data in the online DJP system. After that, the taxpayer can enter the NIK and press the verification button as follows:

If the NIK input is correct, a blue tick will appear. It indicates that the inputted NIK data is valid and synchronized with the civil registration data. After that, the taxpayer can click the change profile button below:

  • After the NIK is valid, the taxpayer has to ensure that the KLU data, family members, and other data in DJP Online are the data owned by the taxpayer.

If there is a discrepancy, the taxpayer can update the data online. However, some data cannot be changed through DJP online, such as domicile address data. Examples of other data updates are as follows:

Based on the picture above, we can see that by pressing the other data tab button, taxpayers can change their mobile phone number and email address. Taxpayers should ensure that the email address and mobile phone number entered are correct because the token and proof of SPT submission are sent through the email address or mobile phone number mentioned in the DJP Online account.

After ensuring that the email address and mobile phone number are correct, the next step is to ensure that the KLU (business field classification) data submitted is valid. KLU data is necessary for taxpayers because it determines the taxation rate and mechanism. For example, a taxpayer who owns an independent KLU will have a different tax rate and mechanism than an employee KLU.

Next, taxpayers need to update the data on family members. Updating family member data can be done by selecting the family member tab and then clicking the change button on each family member. After clicking the change button, enter the name, NIK, KK number, place of birth date, family relationship status, and occupation. After all the data is filled in, click the validation button and change the data as follows:

After validating and changing the data, taxpayers can log in to DJP online using the Population Identification Number. This is a brief guide on matching NPWP with NIK. If you need further assistance, feel free to contact Ideatax.
